The events that take place during FotoWeek DC attract not just those who make a living practicing the art, science, business, education, and craft of photography but also collectors, amateur photographers and the simply curious. In short, FotoWeek DC offers the entire Washington, D.C. community - and the lucky tourist who happens to be in town - the opportunity to come together to focus on photography's place in our world, explore new ideas about the future of photography, and experience photography's many forms and enriching power. The 2010 FotoWeek DC calendar is filling up with exciting exhibitions, stimulating lectures series, and portfolio reviews by renowned judges.   • The FotoWeek DC International Awards Competition is underway! Submissions received before midnight on July 31, 2010 will receive an Early Bird 20% discount so enter early and often! Additionally, the first 100 entrants will receive complimentary subscriptions to our new online directory.  The final deadline for all submissions is September 20, 2010, after which the work will be turned over to our esteemed panel of judges for their review. Judges for 2010 include Visa Pour L’Image Founder Jean-Francois Leroy, Gary Knight of VII, MaryAnne Golon of AARP, Jose Azel of Aurora, Bob Krist, Michael Davie and Nick Nichols of National Geographic, David Scull of the New York Times, fine art expert Kathleen Ewing, photographer Joyce Tenneson and many more.

  • Join us on 7/22 from 7-10pm at the Corcoran Gallery of Art’s North Atrium, located at 500 17th St. NW, for our first major party of the year. Admission includes a subscription to FotoWeek DC’s exciting new photography directory, complimentary admission to the Corcoran’s newest exhibition, Chuck Close Prints: Process and Collaboration, and enjoyment of an interactive photo booth with live projections of your sessions during the party. Entertainment will be provided by Matthew Hemerlein + DJ Chris Nitti. Tickets cost $20 and can be purchased online at www.FotoWeekDC.org starting July 7th, 2010
